What's with all the fancy character names?
I'm just your average, college-educated, psuedo-intellectual, and I like
fancy words. Oh, and toilet humor... lots and lots of toilet humor.
Your site sucks!
Not technically a question, but thanks for the constructive criticism.
Truth be told, I've worked hard at getting this site to look exactly
the way I want it to look... So I'm pretty proud of it.
That being said, I'm well aware that the underlying HTML/CSS is fugly as hell.
I'm using tables for layout, heavily using the span tag, bold, italics, funky
CSS, dated everything. Etcetra and so forth.
The reason for this is because this site is a derivative of my
FFXI site, and re-uses much of
the code from there. That site was made in 2004, and it, in turn, was based
upon an even earlier ClanAM site from 1998. Basically, I've got a good 17 years
of cruft and crap built up in the code on this site, and I'm lazy, impatient and full of hubris, so I
sure as hell ain't gonna fix it.
Just be glad I'm a backend developer and move on.
What's your favorite GW2 job?
At the time of this writing (Sept, 2015), I'd have to say Ranger and
Guardian are my favoites. Ranger is just hella fun to play, versatile as hell,
and has great survivability. Meanwhile, Guardian is frigging amazing to
play at WvW when you're spec'd right.
FFXI vs GW2, discuss!
Meh, the two games are really quite different (even if GW2 bogarts
a lot of the look of FFXI). GW2 is infinitely more casual than FFXI, except in
the case of WvW which has some incredible depth to it.
I like them both, but for different reasons.
Will there ever be a big ClanAM for GW2?
Back in FFXI, I ran a large linkshell for Clan
of the Angry Monkey. In GW2, I started a ClanAM guild the first day I started
playing. However, it's been fairly small and reserved for ClanAM friends playing
GW2, and we really haven't reached any sort of critical mass that would allow us
to do guild events and things.
Will I ever try to grow ClanAM in GW2? Never say never, but probably not. ClanAM
in FFXI was very time consuming, and I'd routinely have to play for long
stretches at a time while I led large events. Meanwhile, my life has changed
since I played FFXI. I have a daughter now, who demands a lot of time from me,
and generally my life is busier. Right now, I just don't have the time for a big
ClanAM in GW2.
That being said, I'm getting excited for some of the new content in HoT which
requires groups of people to participate in. I might need to grow GW2 or join
another guild to do the stuff I want to do in HoT.
